Fall is in full swing here in the states. What could be better than getting outdoors for some sun and fun before the winter weather arrives? Grab a kite and join us!
We chose a simple, low-cost kite that can be found here. It arrived quickly, required only a few easy steps to assemble it, and was ready to use in minutes. It felt lightweight but pretty sturdy all things considered.
Choosing a day with wind helps, but not too much wind. We had wind speeds of about 11 miles per hour, according to Google. Comfortable for us, and just enough speed to get the kite in the air. Any less wind would have been a problem. Imagine how well this would fly at the beach!

It helps if you have a helper to launch the kite. Start by unwinding the kite string at least 30-40 feet. Then, while one person holds the kite string, the other person can hold the kite itself in the air to launch it. When the air catches the kite, it will quickly soar higher. Once it’s high enough, you’ll notice there’s more wind the higher you go. At a certain point, the kite will mostly fly itself with very little effort from you. This is the most enjoyable part of the experience because you can control the kite’s movement without worrying too much that it will crash.

Our kite did come down several times when the wind decreased, and even though it hit the ground fairly hard, it held together just fine. Each time, we quickly launched it again.
As far as safety, make sure you are flying it away from trees and power lines. A nice big field is a great location to fly. Also, consider wearing a pair of gloves because sometimes the kite string can cut your fingers when the wind starts jerking the kite around.
This kite can be taken apart if necessary and it comes with all you need to fly it plus a small, reusable storage bag. Pick one up today and have some fun!
